Sedation Dentistry

Have you been dealing with a damaged tooth or putting off routine cleanings and exams because you fear coming to the dentist? What if you didn’t have to choose between oral health and comfort? At Blackrock Dental, we offer sedation dentistry services to provide total ease and relaxation during any dental procedure.

An Overview of Sedation Dentistry

We offer different types and levels of sedation. The type and dosage of sedation we offer will depend on your specific needs, as well as your age. Learn more about the sedation we offer:

IV Sedation | This type of sedative is dispensed through a vein, meaning it takes effect quickly. Our doctors can also regulate the amount of medicine administered throughout the procedure
Oral Sedation | Start to feel relaxed before coming to our office with this sedative. Oral sedation comes as a pill and you will take it before your scheduled procedure. After taking the pill, you will feel tranquil. It’s possible that you may become groggy with an oral sedative and fall asleep during the procedure, but won’t have any difficulty waking after the procedure. We recommend having someone drive you to and from your appointment.
Nitrous Oxide | You may have heard of “laughing gas,” which is another name for nitrous oxide. It is administered throughout your procedure, using a mask placed over the nose.

Advantages of Dental Sedation

Keeping up on routine cleanings, exams, and procedures that have been recommended for you is important for your oral health. Preventing oral issues or restoring damaged teeth can be very helpful for maintaining your comfort and hygiene. If fear or anxiety has kept you from taking care of your dental needs, sedation may be the perfect solution for you. With sedation, you can feel completely comfortable while we provide our services, which will also allow us to work quicker.
